Chapter #4A cheerleading uniform by: Unknown John idly brushed his fingers against the soft, smooth fabric of a cheerleader's uniform, then continued to walk along the store aisles.
Putting his hand to his head, John experienced a fleeting moment of faintness – a lightheaded sensation of whirling that lasted for such a second or two, and then passed.
“Weird,” he said to himself.
And instantly he realized something had changed.
His voice was deeper. Not higher pitched, just richer and more melodic. Somehow a tiny bit more mature.
John looked down at himself and recognized the reason: he was now in the body of a teenage girl!
Dressed in the very same red and white cheerleading uniform he had just touched, John now had thin yet athletic looking arms and legs, smooth and tanned. Small, perky mounds of feminine flesh pushed upward on his chest, straining a little against the sleeveless uniform shell he wore. Alternating pleats of red and white fluttered about the short skirt he wore. Small white socks that looked decidedly girly were now on his feet, rising to just below the level of his ankles. John's shoes looked like normal, white tennis shoes, but felt extra soft and supple, as though they were especially designed for cheerleading girls to jump about and do gymnastic routines in them.
“I'm a girl,” John whispered aloud, running his hands along his slim, new, petite frame in wonder.
“May I be of assistance?” said an approaching sales associate. She was a pretty, brunette in a green dress.
“What's happening to me?” John asked the sales attendant, trying not to betray in his voice the rising panic he now felt.
“Do you like what you see, miss?” asked the sales associate calmly. “That's a healthy, vivacious young body. Very athletic and full of life. A good, energetic form. Bodies like that one usually go quick! You're lucky to have picked it up when you did. Shall I ring you up at the cash register?”
“What? No! I don't understand this,” John cried. “My name is John, and I'm ten years old. I'm not a girl, and I'm not a cheerleader, and I don't want to be this lady! Change me back, please!”
“Another spontaneous conversion?” sighed the sales girl. “That's the third one this week! I do wish you customers would be more careful. We have signs clearly posted at all the entrances.”
“I didn't see anything,” wailed John. “Please, just make me a kid again, and a boy!”
“Let me explain what's happened,” the attendant said gently. “The clothes in this store are magic. When you touch an outfit, the clothes alter you to fit them. You can become an entirely new person, and change your body to suit any style that catches your fancy.
“But this is just an accident,” sobbed John. “I don't want to be a cheerleader.”
“I'm sorry. You should have read the signs and been more careful,” replied the attendant. “You cannot undo the alteration for twenty-four hours. Now if you'll come back and visit us at this time tomorrow, and subsequently touch your old clothing, you may then revert back to the person you were before.”
“My old stuff is here?” asked John.
“Oh, yes,” answered the sales associate. “It will be over in the children's section, among the racks of boys clothes. However, it will disappear if anyone else chooses to touch it. Then, of course, that person would become you, in both body and style.”
“I don't want anyone else buying my body!” whined John.
“It's part of the price of using our service,” explained the attendant. “I'm sorry; I cannot change the rules. I also need to caution you that unless you make another change in the next seven days, reality will be re-written so that you will have always been in this new body and style. But don't worry: I'm sure your old clothes will still be available tomorrow. And even if they aren't, you accidentally selected a wonderful new body. You're a very pretty young lady now, quite healthy looking, and probably an extraordinarily happy and popular girl.”
“I don't want to be a popular girl!” cried John, stomping his dainty, new feet on the floor angrily.
“I really cannot do anything to help you until tomorrow,” replied the sales associate somberly. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
