Jack Chalker was in his late forties. Taking a walk along the beach, the salt air and the breeze made him feel more alive than anything else. Looking around, it was a gorgeous day. However, regret spoiled his view, the choices he'd made, and the regrets and fears he felt had made him a touch too cautious.
He watched the younger generation enjoying themselves. The age difference was too big for him to cross, they were twenty or more years younger, and had vibrant and interesting futures ahead of them.
It felt oddly, and obviously wrong to lust after those young women. But, their supple bodies kept drawing his eyes, despite this.
Kicking his way through the seaweed, he sought to distract himself. The high tide mark could provide a host of distractions. However, he still fell face first, when his foot caught in something too substantial to be seaweed.
Thankfully, he caught himself. His hands making deep impressions in the sand. Looking backwards, and trying to ignore everyone else on the beach. He spotted a metallic flash in the seaweed.
He'd expected to see a stone, or half-buried rock. Instead, this glint seemed to call to him. Sitting back, he peeled aside the seaweed, revealing a brass lamp. Smiling to himself, it vaguely reminded him of ancient genies, and other such stories.
Running his finger over the surface it was ornately etched. His unfamiliarity meant he took a moment to recognise the design. It looked like arabic script, and was beyond his ability to read it.
The lamp appeared in good condition, having only recently washed up... No barnacles or other sea life spoiled its' appearance. Looking around he saw no-one was looking in his direction... if they even spotted his awkward pratfall.
A smirk crossed his face, as he couldn't suppress his active imagination. Gently rubbing more of the sand away, an idle wish formed in his mind.
