Amanda's day started off normally enough. She was awoken by her alarm clock at 6:30 a.m., just as usual. But the day wasn't to stay so ordinary for long. After her usual morning ritual, she got in her car and drove to her business. Her parents had started an immensely successful bioengineering firm, but, when Amanda turned 18, they were killed in a tragic plane crash. Now, 6 years later, the business was doing even better than ever. And a lot of that was because of Amanda herself, and her extraordinarily high IQ. When she first took over, people predicted that the company would crash and burn in spectacular fashion. Instead, it had rocketed to the top of the bioengineering industry, with over two hundred patents.
Aside from the public projects she was involved with, Amanda also had several private projects underway. Two of them were beginning to show significant promise. One of the things Amanda had always believed was that gender inequality caused most of the problems in modern society. So, she decided to erase the gender gap. How? By making people into functional hermaphrodites. Now, it looked like her perseverance was finally paying off. She had managed, at great expense, to get hold of several death-row inmates for testing purposes. She only managed it by contracting it with the CIA, promising to share any discoveries with potential military applications.
The first three subjects recieved the alpha test serum, but it turned out to be unstable, resulting in a very protracted and painful cellular breakdown, starting in the mucosal membranes and spinal tissue.
