On her run, Ashley ends up severely breaking he...

"Huff!"

Running always made her happy, regardless of the mood she was in before she started to pump her legs.

"Huff!"

Ten miles so far, a necessary distance to burn off all of those empty calories from the night before.

"Huff!"

Turning her head as she ran, she took in the majestic view. The mountains looming all around the secluded field the academy called home. The sound of the birds in the air, the rushing streams, the scent of the pine needles. All of it made her grateful to be here, even if she did have to try and teach fitness to a bunch of fat young women.

"Huff!"

The final bend now, her workout nearing it's end.

She doesn't see the root until it's too late.

SNAP!

At first she thinks it's the branch but then she feels the pain screaming down her right leg. Looking down, she nearly passes out at the sight of the weird angle her leg is now at. Taking out her cellphone, she dials for an ambulance. Once she's assured the paramedics are on their way, she looks up at the sky.

It's so clear and blue that it almost makes her forget the pain in her leg.

She doesn't think about what this will mean for her teaching career until she's in the ambulance and heading towards the nearest hospital ten miles away.
