"Okay" you reluctantly agree. "I can't afford to fail."
"Good." She smiles at you. "We are meeting at the Child Care room Friday morning. Don't worry about packing anything. I'll bring everything you need."
Friday morning arrives too soon. When you arrive at the Child Care room there are already three few girls waiting. Helen, Tanya and Jane. They all have suitcases with them so you deduce that they must not be volunteers.
"The first baby is here." Helen announces.
The other giggle. They must have been informed that you were joining the camp.
"Don't worry." Tanya tells you. "I'll be your mommy."
"Hi Girls." someone greets the other from the doorway behind you. "Hi Daniel."
You turn and are dismayed to see Kate, also carrying a suitcase. If you had known she was in the Child Care class you probably would have chosen to repeat Home Economics instead of volunteering for this camp. You've had a crush on her since the start of high-school and now she's going to see you playing baby.
"Hi Kate." you reply, failing to hide your unhappiness.
"Cheer up." She tells you. "It's not going to be that bad. You might even have fun."
You offer her a weak smile.
The rest of the girls, along with Mrs Collins, arrive soon after. There are 12 girls with suitcases and 5 without. The girls without suitcases seem almost as unhappy about being here as you. All except for one. Louise seems to be barely able to hide her excitement.
