This choice: A woman wearing some sort of medieval clothing? • Go Back...
Chapter #5
Herald of a Prophet
by: Unknown
A woman emerged from the shrubs, wearing a strangely medieval-themed dress. It was a greenish-hue, and shimmered in the afternoon light. It had a plunging neckline revealing pinkish skin and amble bosom. Her face was angular, and almost... elfin? Startled, but mostly curious, I took a step forward.
But she spoke instead, raising a gentle hand. "I beseech you, young adventurers of the wooded glade. I have need of your talents."
Phoebe and I glanced at each other, our eyes narrowed with confusion.
"Uh, I think you may be lost," I muttered, trying to figure out if this woman was trying to play a trick on us.
"Oh no, fair child of Adam. I know precisely what realm this is, and precisely whom you are," she smiled an aluring but curious smile. "Your arrival was foretold by the Prophet Xalos, and he has sent me here to ask for your aid."
I blinked stupidly. Foretold? Realm? Prophet? Just what was this woman on?
Phoebe took a step forward herself. I admired how she took charge, thrusting her finger at the woman. "Lady, we get it. You're some actress at a renaissance fair, and you need some poor saps to come and buy tickets. There's no need for all of this theater stuff."
I nodded, smirking at my gorgeous friend. "Yeah. If we feel like it, we'll check it out later. But now, we're about to have a picnic." I paused, dismissing the woman with a gesture.
"So thanks, but no thanks."
The strangely-clad woman continued to smile, and whispered softly, "The prophet does not falter in his weavings of fate..."
