Disconnect

"I would love my family regardless, and I care too much about all of them to let this damn thing exist for a second longer!" Your dad takes an axe from the wall beside your tool bench, and lifts it up over the terminal. Brian grabs on to the axe, ripping it out of his hands, and forcing him backwards. Your dad clobbers him on the head, but Brian doesn't give up, and forces Mark backwards. He trips.

Into the pod. Mark's life flashes before his eyes, as he watches his friend wobble over the other pod. As the light engulfs the chamber, your father loses consciousness, but he knows nothing good will happen when he wakes up.

Brian loads his body into his bed, back in his own apartment, and watches it lie motionless, while he stood tall in your dad's body. Your dad had become addicted to body swapping when he was a kid, and worked hard for years to overcome a desire to be someone else. Brian, on the other hand, regretted letting Mark destroy the machine when they were kids, and could never accept that he'd be stuck in his own body forever. He'd been searching for a new machine for years, and he wasn't going to let his friend destroy another one.

The man who now claimed to be your father was anxious to go home to his new family, and his wife and a real house, and his brand new body switching machine, but he knew if he just left Mark here, he'd come back for his body.
