Opting for the more fun option (because really, what kid wouldn't want to bust a window out), Mike slinks the backpack off his shoulders and rests it against one of the porch rails. Looking around, he finds a decent-sized rock and chucks it at one of the windows just next to the front door. In an instant, it shatters and only excited the boy. With a toothy grin, he grabs another rock and chucks it again. It busts in another section, and Mike continued this pattern until all three windows on the face of the house were shattered.
"That was fun," The kid said to himself, taking a minute to catch his breath.
Retrieving his backpack, he shimmies carefully through one of the busted windows and drops down onto the hardwood floor with a thump.
"I know you're in heeeere," He sing-songs aloud, keeping a close watch on the ground. There was glass everywhere, and he made sure to keep away from it. "Come out, come out wherever you are," He grins.
Mike didn't really know if anyone was even inside. But if they were, it was always more fun to taunt them with his presence. Over the last month, he'd grown very accustomed to the power he wielded over the bug people. It was enough to give him funny feelings and induce butterflies in the pit of his stomach.
Trudging on, he turns a corner in the hall on the single-story home and is now in the dining room. And that's when he spots it. Dropping down to his hands and knees, he observes a tiny little patch of fresh crumbs broken apart in one spot. Crumbs from what, the boy doesn't know.
He looks up, and as luck would have it, a tiny little face was looking back at him from around one of the dining room chairs. Mike smiles wide and couldn't help but giggle.
"Too scared to run, little bug person?" He asks, moving closer on all fours. In another second, he pulls the chair out to expose the cowering little human. "There you are!"
In an instant, the giant kid reaches for and snatches up the shrunken guy before they have a chance to change their mind and run. Not that the fun of chasing them down wasn't fun, it was just a little more rare to have one literally frozen with fear. Those funny feelings returned the second he had him in his grasp.
"You're a little too small for food," The giant says.
"F-food?!" It was the first time the bug person had said a word. He hadn't even screamed when he was grabbed.
"Yeah, but don't worry, I'm not gonna eat you."
Mike noticed a wave of relief wash over the tiny person in an instant. Like he had just quelled the fear in him. He wanted to change that.
"I am gonna squish ya, though," Mike giggled.
With those words, it Mike could visibly see the color drain from his face. It amused him to think that just a month ago, his words had little to no meaning for any adult. And now, he could invoke a fear beyond belief in just a sentence.
"P-please, k-kid, you don't h-have to do t-that," The tiny stammered.
"Actually, I do," Mike said with a little giggle. "But how should I do it?"
