You weren't part of any official group designed to protect the countryside, but you still felt the need to protect it and it's travelers from the dangers the world posed such as bandits, highway men and other dangers.
         you started walking through the fields around your house and into the woods when you heard a scream you ran towards it and saw two men looming over a woman who had fallen to the ground you drew your dagger and rushed in at the two men tackling one to the ground while the other spun towards you.
