    by: Unknown
As Tanner walks through the park he notices a young boy searching frantically as he calls for his mother. "Hey, buddy let me help you alright?"

The young boy shakes his head and backs away, remembering his mother's warning of strangers.

"I'm sorry, my name is Tanner. What's your name?"

"James."

"That's an awesome name. James, do you know your mom's phine number."

The boy shakes his head as tears appear in his eyes.

"That's ok James. What's your last name?"

"Hopkins."

"When did you last see your mom?"

"She was on the bench," James sniffles rubbing his nose across his sleeve.

"Alright why don't we walk around the playground again and see if we can find her." Tanner keeps his distance knowing the boy is frightened. "Does your mom have curly hair?"

"No it's like mine," James touches his hair and spins looking all over. "I don't see her," his voice cracks and he sits down and statts to cry.

"Hey buddy, James. It's going ro be ok. I'm sure she just moved or went to grab something. She knows your a good smart boy so she wasn't worried," Tanner tries to talk him into standing again knowing if the boy thought too much about it he would freak out.

"James!" They both look up as a women hurries over holding two ice cream cones.

James jumps up tears streaking down his face. "Mommy, I thought you left me!"

"Oh buddy no mommy would never leave her little man," She turns to Tanner, "I'm sorry about that I was just on the other side of the ice cream truck. He must have freak out just after I got to the window."

Tanner smiles, "no worries miss, your little guy did a good job."

She smiles her thanks and leads her son away.
