Chapter #3

Gray's Losing Streak

    by: Dark_Lord Author IconMail Icon
Natsu Dragneel walked into his house with a big, toothily grin on his face. The Fire Dragon Slayer was just coming from the Fairy Tail Building after getting into another fight with his rival, Gray Fullbuster. This fight, however, had a very satisfying conclusion. Whether it was a lucky shot or the ice mage was having a bad day, Natsu had succeeded in delivering a devastating uppercut that launched Gray into the ceiling of the building. The smug Natsu then walked out; leaving Gray with his head stuck in the roof and the rest of the guild laughing hysterically.

“Heh, that perverted stripper deserved it!” Natsu said to himself as he slammed his fist into his palm. “After a victory like that I think I deserve some relaxation! The rosy haired teen walked away from his front door and was about slump onto one of the nearby couches when he heard a pounding on his door. Startled, Natsu looked back at the wooden door as someone banged on it again. “Geez, who could that be? Can’t a Dragon Slayer just relax?” Natsu grumbled as he made his way back to the door and opened it while saying, “Yeah? What do you-?” However, he could not finish the sentence, seeing as it’s quite difficult to speak when an ice-coated fist is buried into your mouth. The blow sent Natsu flying backwards; his body soaring over his rectangular table and landing with a “thump” on one of the sofas. The force of the impact almost tipped the couch backwards. “The hell?!” Natsu covered his aching mouth with his hands and glared back at the person who had punched him. The black-haired, muscular form of Gray stepped into Natsu’s house. He stared at Natsu with the most hateful of looks.

“Natsuuuu!” Gray growled, cracking his knuckles and causing the ice that coated one fist to crumble. “Did you think we’re finished? Did you think you could just walk away?!”

“Seriously?” Natsu responded; removing his hands from his mouth. A normal person would of lost most of their teeth after a hit like that; but Natsu was made of sturdier stuff. “I beat you fair and square. Do you want me to kick your ass here in my house too?”

“It was a lucky punch,” replied the shirtless wizard as cold air started to swirl around his fists. “but when I turn you into an ice sculpture and stash you in your own fridge; that WON’T be luck!” Upon giving Natsu his threat the Ice-Make Mage charged toward is fellow Fairy Tail wizard. Natsu, upon instinct, lit his fists aflame and was about to kick his table toward the incoming Gray when a light bulb lit up in his head. The two of them were alone in the privacy of his home; no other guild members to interfere with them. This was the perfect chance for Natsu to try out a new magic he had been practicing all month. A magic the Master would surely punish him for using on a fellow guild mate…if he knew.

“Hehe, too bad for you, Gray.” Natsu spoke as the flames around his fists went out and he stretched out a hand toward Gray. “You just made things a whole lot worse for yourself!” The Dragon Slayer coiled his hand into a fist and a white magic seal formed at the tip of his knuckles. “Reduction Magic!” A moment later the stampeding Gray was consumed in a cloud of white smoke. When the cloud dissipated a second later, Gray was gone. Natsu’s toothily grin returned as he hopped off the couch and stomped over to where Gray had been. As he approached where Gray once was the pink haired male’s grin slowly vanished. “What’s going on here?!” Natsu looked down at the floor, but saw no signs of a shrunken Gray. The spell should of reduced Gray to a miniature size like it did the objects and animals Natsu had practiced on, but instead Gray was simply…gone. He tried to sniff the air to catch a hint of Gray’s scent, but to no avail. “Stupid piece of shit magic! It wasn’t supposed to teleport him somewhere!” Natsu angrily clenched his teeth before sighing with disappointment and turning around. “Oh well…maybe if I’m lucky I sent him halfway across the world. Then he wouldn’t be around here for awhile, hehe!”

~Seconds before~

Gray was rushing toward the seated Natsu when he noticed the scarf-wearing teen make a strange magic seal he had never seen before. He was surprised to see Natsu use another magic besides Fire Magic, but was even more surprised when his vision was overtaken by a screen of smoke.

“Ha, a smokescreen? What an amateur magic!” Gray shouted before he emerged from the smoke cloud. As he did he immediately noticed two things were off. First, his feet were no long touching the floor. In fact he was what seemed to be miles above the ground as if he had just ran off a cliff. Second, the Natsu that sat before him was no longer the Natsu he knew. He was now soaring toward a massive, titanic version of the flame eater! “What the-?!” Before he could end his sentence the tiny Gray smacked right into Natsu’s bare chest. It felt as if he had hit a wall of solid iron, however. “H-How…?” Gray mumbled as his shrunken form slipped off of the giant’s chiseled chest. Before he fell too far Gray reached out and grabbed onto Natsu’s black waistcoat. The tiny wizard was now hanging from Natsu’s clothes as the bigger teen moved. The rosy haired mage had no idea Gray was there; not expecting the Ice-Make Mage to shrink so small. He expected Gray to shrink to around six inches like everything else he used the spell on, but instead Gray shrunk to mere millimeters in height! He was now just a tiny speck barely noticeable on Natsu’s torso. “This…this is not good.”
