Chapter #7The age virus by: Unknown Kelly was rather loud-mouthed and even seemed rebellious at times, but she was actually much nicer than she looked, and only acted tough so as to not get picked on by some of the other students in her school. Her grades were average, and even though she had relatively few friends, she was very close to them. However, she always wanted to become an adult, as she was envious of the freedom they had compared to her. Sure, school allowed her to see her friends more easily, but it was still torturously boring. Also, grown-ups could go wherever they wanted whenever they wanted, while she had to stick to just wandering around her neighborhood, which was rather small. She also envied adult women for looking so attractive, and hated her own more childish features. She always sighed whenever she thought about how awesome it must be to be an adult, and was not too happy about the fact that she had to wait a few more years to actually become one. She had long forgotten how great being young was in its own right, but she was soon going to remember it.
One day, while playing volleyball during her PE class, the girl she was partnered with accidentally hit her square in the face with the ball. After apologizing, she grabbed her hand to help her get back up, which was enough for the age virus she was unknowingly infected with to spread to Kelly. Neither of the girls paid much more attention to it than that, and went on like normal, until the next day. Their breakfast routine was interrupted by their father shouting a rather loud "What the ?!" upon seeing the newspapers' headline. Naturally, the rest of the family was surprised, and asked him what was wrong :
"Look here ! On the front page ! A young 13-year old girl transformed into a baby !"
Tim's wife and children's jaws dropped to the floor, before they shouted in surprise in unison. Tim summed up the newspaper article to his family :
"Mr and Mrs Jansen had the shock of their lives when their thirteen-year old daughter Emily suddenly transformed into an infant yesterday evening. According to them, Emily started to feel weird shortly after she came home from school, but shrugged it off as just fatigue, and went to her room. About an hour later, she went to see her parents, telling them that her head hurt and she felt dizzy. Her parents went to the kitchen to fetch her some medication, only to see her clothes piled up on the floor when they got back to the living-room. After pushing them out of the way, they saw that they daughter had somehow transformed into a helpless infant. The doctor's analysis revealed that the young girl had caught an extremely rare and unpredictable disease known as the "age virus", which causes its victims to get older or younger at varying speeds. This disease is known to spread extremely fast and be very hard to detect without proper medical equipment until it transforms its victim's age."
Kelly was surprised enough, but her blood froze when she recognized the girl mentioned in the newspaper as the girl who she played volleyball with in PE the day before. She instantly told her parents about it, and they decided to bring her to their own family doctor, Dr. Ledgewood. Nancy stayed home to take care of Brad and Kimmy, while Tim drove Kelly to the doctor as fast as he could. When they got there, Dr. Ledgewood analyzed Kelly, and discovered that she had indeed caught the virus.
"Oh my gosh... Am I going to get older or younger, Mr. Ledgewood ?
-Well, my dear, it seems the virus is going to rejuvenate you. I cannot tell yet how fast you will get younger, however.
-That can't be real... Is there anything we can do to stop this disea-"
Before Kelly could finish her sentence, the virus already started to take effect. Her father and Dr. Ledgewood could only watch helplessly as Kelly transformed into...   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
