Of course Hank was no fool, his staggering IQ made it easy for him to recognize a deviation in his own routines. And him suddenly gorging himself was definably a deviation. A quick review of of the past couple of days in comparison to what he had just devoured suggested that perhaps he had skipped a meal or two as he had focused on his work, but did not account for the intensity of the hunger he had felt, nor excused the amount he had eaten. Such an occurrence of course required a bit more data to figure out what had come over him. He had his own hypothesis of course, he was aware of his own condition, perhaps more acutely then others may realize. His mutation meant he walked a line between his civilized and scientific mind, and the impulsive and instinct driven side he generally suppressed. He knew he was far more susceptible to his instincts then he cared to admit, not to mention the instability of his mutation over the years had more then once intensified those instincts.
Though ashamed to admit it, more then once that had become a liability as he could easily be overtaken by his urges if he dipped to far into the more primal side of himself, recalling when he had lost himself momentarily when relying on pure instinct to over come telepaths who could read his conscious thoughts, or how he had been reduced to little more then an animal when when Cassandra had suppressed his higher reasoning and literally eaten Logan's leg during said time. Not his best moments, but he knew the familiar sensation of when his instincts began pushing on his mind.
It was at this moment of pondering that he felt his stomach growl again, despite having just finished what Hank considered far too much, he felt the pull of his instincts. In the past the more familiar sensations was his bestial fight or fight instincts, an animals natural drive to protect itself. This sensation was also a survival instinct, though not one he had much experience with since food had never been an issue, sure he had felt the impulse to hunt, but hunger instincts themselves was quite unfamiliar to him with modern access to food. And despite the tightness in his stomach, his instincts were telling him he had to eat, and there was food right in front of him. It didn't help at all that the same sensations were addling his thoughts, with the psychosomatic effect of causing his body to feel irritable and shaky.
Unknown to Hank, Blobs new powers were affecting his hypothalamus, stimulating the generation of ghrelin and suppressing leptin, altering his hormones and brain chemistry to make him feel permanently hungry, while altering his metabolism. For him, this was especially effective as his animal instincts believed it was starving and needed food, fighting against Hanks, more rational thinking to fulfill the basic need it believed it had to fulfill...
