Cameron stepped out of the locker room, still hyper-aware of how the leggings clung to him and how the sports bra subtly shaped his chest. He had hoped to blend in, to make it through gym class unnoticed, but that hope was immediately shattered.
The murmurs started almost instantly. Heads turned. Eyes widened. A few giggles rippled through the gathered students. He followed their gazes and immediately spotted the problem.
Anna was standing off to the side, dressed in a blue short-sleeved blue top and a denim skirt, watching the scene unfold with an expression that hovered somewhere between horror and fascination.
Rachel was the first to say something. "Wait a minute… If Anna’s over there… then who—?" Her voice trailed off as the realization hit.
Maya let out a snort of laughter. "Oh my God. Cameron?!"
Cameron felt his face go hot. He fought the urge to tug down the hem of the sports top, knowing it would only draw more attention. "Uh… I can explain," he started weakly.
Rebecca smirked, arms crossed. "This, I gotta hear."
Anna finally sprang into action, stepping forward quickly. "It’s my fault," she said, her voice a bit too high-pitched in her rush to cover for him. "I accidentally grabbed his gym clothes this morning, so he had to wear mine."
Mitch, who had just arrived, took one look at Cameron and doubled over laughing. "Dude, this is the best thing that’s ever happened."
"Shut up, Mitch," Cameron grumbled, but it was no use. The damage was done. He had been noticed, and there was no going back.
Now, all he had to do was survive the next forty-five minutes of gym class with his dignity somewhat intact. Easier said than done.
