As the journalist walked away, Tyrese got up from the table. "Yo man, I gotta take a leak. Be back in a minute".
"How could I be so stupid!", thought the journalist as he's linked away into the mall. "Of course he wants that. He's no different than all the other dumb jocks!"
Tyrese caught up with the journalist, out of Vance's view. "Yo, I'm sorry about that. Can we talk, you know, in private?"
Intrigued, the journalist said, "Sure. Let's go into the bookstore. Nobody's ever in there."
When they got there, Tyrese started talking, "Look, I know what you're probably thinking, but I'm not a bad guy. I don't really believe what I said. I just wanted to look good in front of my friend. I could never say what I really like. So I have to make sure, these interviews are anonymous, right?"
"Yeah", said the journalist, visibly confused, "of course".
"Good. Because what I'm about to tell you could be social suicide for me, ya dig?"
"Yeah, I dig. I totally dig."
"Alright. I don't like dumb girls. I like smart girl with strong convictions and opinions. A cool girl I can hang out with. There's actually this one girl at school I really like. She cool, funny, artsy, and she doesn't take shit from nobody. She's fine as hell too, which never hurts".
The journalist's heart began to flutter.
"But there's one more problem. She physically isn't what I'm looking for. She beautiful, don't get me wrong, but, I've always kind of had a thing for fat girls".
The journalist's jaw dropped before regaining his composure. "Really? So, if this girl was fat, you'd like her?"
"Please, I'd be all over her like white on rice. But it'll probably never happen. And nobody could know about it either. I can't afford to lose my popularity. I know it's shallow, but you've got to survive high school. You remember, right?"
"Yeah, maybe a little too well", he grumbled.
"We're both juniors though, so once high school is over, we could live happily ever after. I'd treat her like a queen, the plump, beautiful Laura Kain. Oh shit, I wasn't supposed to say her name. I gotta go, I don't want Vance to come looking for me."
"Well, thanks for interview. Quick question: why did you tell me the truth?", asked the journalist.
"I don't know. I just felt like I could trust you." He said before running out of the bookstore.
The journalist slid down against the shelf of books, the hat sliding off to reveal her blue hair. "He likes me! He really likes me!", she screamed, only to be shushed by one of the patrons.
"Up yours, asshole", she fired back.
"All I have to do is get fat. My stage career would be over, but it'll be totally worth it."
