As new Mel padded into the bathroom, the former guy felt the weight of her new reality press down on her. Everything was different. She peered into the mirror, searching for some remnant of Kyle beneath the layers of eyeliner and eyeshadow. The bathroom was small and cluttered, full of the essentials; shampoos, conditioners, and beauty products she had never bothered with.
Her heart started racing as the reality of using the bathroom as a girl sank in. This face staring back at her belonged to someone who had a completely different set of rules attached. In her old life as Kyle, bathroom visits were a quick, practical affair. Now, she had to consider makeup, hair, and a whole new level of hygiene that she hadn’t been prepared for.
