"Alright let's go!" Nick beams as he was quick to rush out from the kitchen as the puma friend scurries behind. "Aw man! If we're caught-" "Oh come on. it'll be fine." Nick tries to assure his cohort as they hurriedly make their way out of the kitchen to huddle near the entryway. "Here seems like a good place huh?" Nick asks peering past the wooden post to get a view of the kitchens familiar interior. "Yeah...a good place for a time out." The Puma returns still uneased by the idea as Nick simply rolls his eyes.
"Relax. Now all we got to do is wait. Mom usually splits the pie around sunset and when she does we'll be right here watching." The bear snickers anticipating the upcoming event. "You know, I kind of feel bad for the bug. I mean with what's gonna happen to em." The Puma admits pitifully eyeing the sitting pie as Nick didn't seem that all upset about the plan. "Eh, It's just a bug. there's HUNDREDS of them outside." The bear returns with a shoulder shrug.
Eventually time passes by as David was firmly stuck in his baked prison. "Ughhh...how can something be so hot!?" The human mutters as inside the pie it was almost like a sauna, a rather delicous smelling one at that. With each struggle David attempted for freedom it only seemed to sink him further into the gooey blueberry confines below. Some struggles later and he found himself almost completely encapsulated in the filling as he soon manages to hear some loud if not muffled voices emanating from above.
"Right, who's ready for dessert!?" Beth asks eagerly as Becky ecstatically rushed forward. "I do I do!" She beams giddily. "What about you Nick? Do you and your friend want to have a slice to eat?" The mother bear turns to her son and his friend as both quickly shake their heads. "Errr maybe later Mom." Nick says as he moves a hand down to his stomach. "Still kind of full from dinner." He adds while patting his belly for emphasis. "Sorry Ma'am." The Puma quickly answers back. "But I think my Mom has dessert waiting at home." He bluffs while trying his best not to grimace at the sight of the pie.
"Really now?" Beth asks while setting both hands on the side of her hips gazing at the two with a rather suspicious gaze. "Usually you'd be jumping all over the walls for a nice slice of pie Nick. Something you're not telling me?" She counters as Nick simply gives a meek chuckle and shake of his head. "Well...Just not that hungry tonight Mom. But I'll Definetely eat some later!" The cub addresses as he turns to look at his Puma companion.
"Right, well guess it's time for you to head out huh?" He asks as the Puma gives Nick a bewildered look. "Wha? But I thought that-" Nick simply scoffs and scowls as he motions his eyes towards the kitchen's entryway. "O-Oh right! Mom wanted me to do...clean up today!" The Puma lightly slaps his head as if forgetting such an 'important' event. "Thanks for letting me stay today!" The Puma waves at Beth as the mother, taken aback by the rather odd behavior of the two, musters a light smile. "Oh...well yes. Feel free to come back again." Beth replies as Nick quickly takes his friends hand and leads him out. "Right, we're heading upstairs to get his things!" Nick says scurrying off leaving the mother and daughter dumbfounded in the kitchen.
"What...was that about?" Becky turns to look at Beth as the mother bear simply gives an uncertain shoulder shrug in response. "Those boys..." She sighs used to the two kids rambunctious nature.
"That was close." The puma sighs catching his breath as Nick quickly places a fingers on his lips to shush the feline. "Quiet...it's about to happen." Curiously, both boys quietly peer into the kitchen as Becky was quick to get a slice of pie onto a plate.
"Mmmmm. smells good as ever!" Becky beams taking a deep whiff of the delectable berry pastry as Beth chortles at her daughters eagerness. "Dig in sweety!" Beth urges as Becky nods just as enthused. "I will!" Wasting no time she lifts up a fork before quickly digging up a good sized chunk of her slice up to her face.
"Here we go!" Nick whispers watching giddily as the Puma grimaces lightly at the sight.
