Chapter #4

a hard choice

Carlin stares down at the boy. he turns and faces the royal box.
"i won't."
Carlin tosses his blade on the ground.
" i surrender the match."

the king stands up outraged.
" this is a test that one of you must pass. one of you must die."
the boy stands.

" this is no test of a knights strength...a true knights knows when enough is enough. a king should know such a simple thing."
a hush fell over the crowd.
The king roared at Carlin.

"how DARE you insult your king!?"
"if this is how you rule your kingdom, then I'd proudly say it again!"

"knights! enter the arena and kill that boy!"
A dozen keyblade knights enter the arena and surround Carlin.
the lead knight speaks up.

"sir, he is unarmed....this is dishonorable."
the king scoffs.
"honor? who cares about honor? winning is all that matters in the arena!"

two other knights join rank with the leader.
"this boy speaks the truth. you are no king...just a zealot lusting for power!"
the audience gasps in shock.

"how dare you defy me....."
"the keyblade knights hearby resign from royal employ. we're leaving..."
the leader turns to Carlin.
"you're welcome to join us..if you wish."

the king fumes with rage.
"I won't have it.....royal guard...enter the arena! slaughter all inside....kill them all!!!!"

1000 royal guards swarm into the arena. you all are surrounded.
