Amanda is your sister's daughter. A pale, pretty blue-eyed blonde, she's small & fit with a dancer's physique from her ballet & jazz training. Amanda is just on the cusp of puberty - the changes in her body over the last month or so gave Jackie and Karen (your sister) a major headache in trying to get her dress adjusted. You've always had a good relationship with her, and Jackie and she have become quite close. In fact, she's spent so much time with you two lately that Karen jokes that she should just have Jackie adopt her.
Jackie really wanted her to be part of the wedding and so asked her to serve as a 'junior bridesmaid.' Amanda was thrilled and has been an active part of the wedding planning. Her dress is a slightly less 'sexy' version of the regular bridesmaid dresses - in this case, a simple a-line, lavender satin gown that falls to mid-calf. Amanda must be excited as she's ahead of schedule, already in her dress and heels, with makeup done.
The flash fades and you can see again, but at first you think there's some sort of afterimage. Jacqueline and Amanda stand still facing one another as if in some sort of trance, while a strange energy flows visibly between them. You hesitantly walk toward them, unsure as to what is happening. "Jackie? Amanda?" you ask as you reach to grab Jackie. As soon as you touch her, she jerks back and the flow of energy suddenly stops. She turns to you slowly, appearing to be in shock.
"Jacqueline? Are you okay? Talk to me!" you shout. Her eyes look a little glazed. "Uncle Gerry?" she says in a daze. "What's going on?" She drops her eyes and looks down at her body. "What!?" she says, starting to panic.
You hear the sound of Amanda clearing her throat. "Gerry," she says calmly, "I think that orb was real. Amanda and I have switched bodies."
You turn to her in disbelief while still holding Jackie, trying to ease her nerves. "What? Are you kidding?.... Wait, how do you even know about that?" you ask, confused.
She takes you and Jackie by the hands and leads you over to some chairs. She tries to convince you that she's telling the truth. 'Jackie' calms down enough to join her, and you soon find yourself believing them.
"What are we going to do?" you ask feeling confused and panicky. Surprisingly, Jackie-in-Amanda's body seems calm and collected. Her ability to keep a cool ahead has always impressed you. "We go on with the wedding for now. It's not like we can tell anybody, can we? We have the ceremony and then figure out what to do."
"When?" you ask. "We leave on the cruise tomorrow." (You and Jackie have a cruise to the Bahamas for your honeymoon).
She sighs. "Well, if we don't get time this evening, then you and Amanda will have to go. We can still communicate - phone, text, email, whatever - and come up with a plan. I can't believe that this is permanent. If we changed once, we can find a way to change again. We just need to make it through the immediate situation without alerting anyone."
Her calm demeanor helps both you and Amanda get a grip. In fact, after her initial distress, you suspect Amanda is actually excited about being able to be the bride in a wedding. You think she may be taking this all as some sort of game.
"Okay," you agree. "Let's make it through today, then we'll see what happens."
In talking with both girls, though, you notice something about their speech, body language, and behavior.
