Info on his allergy

    by: NarutoXD Author IconMail Icon
Soul stood in Death’s room with his make shift cloths: A blanket with rope.

Maka was reporting everything that happened.

Death listened intently and responded “Whoopsies!”

Maka nodded sadly “Yah… that’s what we did.”

Suddenly, there was the sound of running feet “MAKA! My daughter!” Spirit, Maka’s father whom she ignores, came sprinting into the room only to be stopped by a largely muscled arm. “Oomph.”

Soul smiled. He hadn’t felt a thing It was that easy…

Spirit looked up to see a mountain of muscle and then a head that he recognized “Soul!!! W-W-What happened to you?”

Soul smiled “Nothing bad, if that’s what you wanted to know.”

Spirit frowned “You know what I mean. How did…” He waves at Soul’s body “… all that happen?”

Soul “I’m allergic to magic, I guess, and it makes me grow.”

Spirit paused. Was that even possible? Then again, magic could do a lot of random things. Spirit sighed and turned toward Maka “Maka! How’s it feel to make a death scythe at only 14! That’s a huge achievement, and I’m very proud.” Then heard a sniffing sound. He looked at his daughter and saw her shaking slightly “Maka?”

Maka blurted out “I didn’t make a death scythe! It was a magic cat’s soul…” She started to cry.

Spirit recoiled. He had thought she would succeed, and that this would help repair their bond, but it did the opposite! Suddenly, he felt himself flying back a few yards as a giant arm tossed him back.

Soul fumed. His eyes told Spirit to stay away or else.

Spirit glared at Soul. Maka was HIS daughter, and he’d be as annoying as he wanted. He’d do anything… ANYTHING! For his little girl. But he could wait for now…

Soul bent down and tried to get Maka to calm down.

Death was watching and he decided to make a phone call. He went to his mirror and spoke “Stein. Please come to my room. ASAP.”

An image of a pale man wearing stitched clothing, and a screw in his head, nodded at Death’s request, and then the image cleared.

------

Death “Soul and Maka, I’d like you to meet one of the brightest students ever produced at DWMA, Stein. I think he’ll be able to help you two.” Death points to the man that was in the mirror before.

Seth whispered to Maka “Is it me, or does that guy have a screw in his head?”

Maka shook her head “No… I see it too.”

Stein was smoking a cigarette “I can hear both of you.”

They turned to face him.

Maka “Sorry… uhh… Mr. Stein.”

Stein “Just call me Stein.”

Soul “Fine Stein, do you know what is going on with what happened to me?”

Stein smirked evilly “I’ll need to dissect you first.”

Suddenly a voice yelled “WHAT IS HE DOING HERE!” Spirit had just walked in, but hid behind Soul the moment he saw Stein.

Stein’s eyes opened upon seeing Spirit “Oh! Spirit, good to see you. I’ve missed dissecting you at night before your wife came along and took you away.”

Spirit yelled “I’m glad she did! The scars have just all vanished.”

Stein sighed. He pulled out a surgical knife “Maybe tonight…”

Spirit shrieked and ran out of the room.

Soul was shocked by what just happened, but one thing was clear “You are not cutting me open.”

Stein resigned “Fine… it was worth a shot.”

Maka asked nicely “So, Stein, could you please tell us what’s going on with Soul?”

Stein “You both know that magic is a very volatile particle, and it reacts with everything and changes it.”

Maka and Soul stare at Stein with lost gazes.

Stein ignored the faces “Well, everyone reacts to magic differently in its pure state. An example of a non-pure state is a spell. The particles are changed to follow a certain order and to achieve a certain goal. The pure state, however, could simply be a ball of magic, or a magic soul. There are other examples that I won’t go into detail. For Soul, it seems that you react by growing dramatically.”

Soul nodded as the ideas flowed into his head “I think I understand. So it is like an allergic reaction.”

Stein “In a sense, yes.”

Soul “So if I were exposed to more, then I’d grow more?”

Stein nodded “Most likely.”

Soul nodded understating “I see… how about others?”

Stein “Well, some people get rashes, or their body simply blocks out the magic, but they could block it in different ways. Some people’s souls become increasingly dense to block out the magic, and some other absorb it and turn it into something else. It always varies.”

Soul thought about it, and the thought of growing stronger entered his mind. He was huge after eating a simply magic cat’s soul. What if it were an actual witch’s soul?

Maka was wondering how she reacted to magic. It’d help her, to know when she fought a witch or something. “Stein, is there a way for me to see how I react?”

Stein thought about it and nodded “Yes. You will need a Magic Mist Crystal and a full moon. When the moon beam passes through the crystal, the light should be turned into magic. Just touch it, and you should see. The beam is relatively low in concentration, so you should be fine.”

Maka nodded “Do we have a magic crystal?”

Death responded “Nope, but it’d be nice if you two found one for the school.”

Soul stared at Death with a sarcastic and lazy look “Really? Why Maka and me?”

Death “Because I asked you to!”

Soul was about to counter, but Maka told him to give it up. No one wins against Lord Death.

Stein “The crystals are mined in a cave inside Fog Forest. When you get there, you should be able to sense a strong source of magic. Follow it and you should find the cave. To get the crystal, you need to Soul as a pickaxe. Once you get it, just retrace your steps and come back here.”

Soul’s logic was screaming at him “If its that simple, why aren’t there more in the world?”

Stein “Because they are made very slowly. You’ll have to hunt for one that someone missed. Oh, and also. The deep you go, the more condensed the crystal is, and the stronger the magic it makes.”

Maka nodded and dismissed Soul and herself. “Thank you. We’ll be going then.”

Death “Good luck!”
