After driving for hours across the countryside, the Butler family finally made it to their destination: a large wooden victorian mansion with a sweeping lawn.
As they got out of the van, Eliza Butler looked at the house skeptically.
"You sure this is a good idea?" she asked her husband.
Leonard Butler looked at the eery house and said, "Well, we got it for free. We must at least check it out."
As they made their way up to the front door, Leonard thumbling with the house's keys, tryung to find the right one, Emily said, "This house looks haunted."
"Yeah," agreed Edward, looking at the faded wood and dirty windows, "It's like a scene from a horro movie."
"Oh stop it!" snapped Eliza at them, "You are scaring Richard."
"I'm not scared," said Richard calmly.
"Yeah, you sounds like the scared one, mom," said Edward.
Eliza pursed her lips together in annoyance at being called out like that. She wasnt going to lie: this house did give her the creeps!
Leonard opened the house and the family looked at the state of the foyer. It was dusty and in desperate need of a good sweeping.
The furniture were covered in white linen to protect themselves, and so were things in the dining room.
"It just needs some Spring cleaning," said Leonard.
"Yeah, Summer, Autumn and Winter," said Edward mockingly.
"Oh, it's not so bad," said Leonard and started to walk up the stairs, intent on exploring.
