She smiled to herself and kicked off her sandals and, hiking up her loose white sundress, waded into the water.
She inhaled sharply as the bare skin of her legs met the cool water, but the shock was more than pleasant. There wasn't any current–this was a pond, not a river, after all–but the rocks were smooth and slick, and she had trouble keeping balance. That didn't bother her as the water came up past her knees and to her thighs, but then she slipped and fell right into the pond, soaking her and her white sundress.
She scrambled to her feet, gasping for breath, and suddenly regretted getting into the water with her clothes on in the first place, because if she had stripped naked first, at least her clothes would have stayed dry. She looked down at her dress, and to her horror the white fabric clung to her hips, thighs, and breasts like a second skin, and had even gone transparent to boot. To make matters worse, she had forgone a bra because she didn't want the straps to show, which was painfully apparent with her nipples, hardened by the chill water, sticking out through her dress.
Basically, for all intents and purposes, her dress had gone invisible and Lauren was naked. The only thing that could have made the situation worse would be for her arch enemy, Jessie, to show up to take advantage of the situation, but that was little consolation.
As she saw it, she could run back to her campsite and hope that she didn't run into too many people in her transparent, clinging dress, or she could take her dress off entirely and hang it up to dry, exposing herself even more until she could wear it again.
