The Weight Game Begins

"Is everything going according to plan, mister Nygma?"

The chilling tone of such a cold, calculating voice sent a shiver down the spine of Edward Nygma, the maniacal genius better known as the Riddler. To be watched over by the mysterious figure of authority made the Riddler feel uncertain, but nonetheless, as true as he continuously claimed, he was far too proud of himself to allow emotions, such as fear and inferiority, bother him in the slightest. It was hard to tell whether this was indeed the truth, or a cover of some kind of ignorance, he was the Riddler after all.

"Indeed professor," he replied, tilting his bowler hat to the monitor screen that displayed the still face of professor Hugo Strange, the former warden of Arkham Asylum, who seemed to have contacts that exceeded the government of Gotham city. "I have hired a few competent allies to inject our three puppets with the serum, and soon our little game shall begin."

"Excellent."

To elaborate, the evil professor had created a serum capable of manipulating the weight and mass of an individual, causing the individual to slowly and endlessly increase and expand in fat and size, even surpassing the point of immobility. However, there was a flaw in the production. The serum only seemed to effect females, not males. The serum would be useless to the target of the professor's obsessions, but instead, he provided it to a contact that would have use for such a spectacular formula.

"Are your little obstacles prepared?"

"Yes," the Riddler replied with a disgruntled look on his face, "Although I would hardly call them little. They were designed to provide our competitors with tasks that may effect the outcome of this entire game."

"Do not think yourself above me, mister Nygma, I still have the information you require."

"Yes professor, I apologize."

It was not often that the Riddler would apologize to someone other than himself, but this was a valuable arrangement. It seemed the Hugo Strange had plans for his three subjects, in reward for preparing these tasks, he had promised the nefarious villain to reveal the identity of his adversary, the dark knight, a proposal that the Riddler could not refuse. That was the reason for his apology, and nothing else.

"Remember mister Nygma," the professor continued, "I wish these women to amuse me. If you fail me, I will make sure that you will never leave the asylum in one piece again. Understand?"

"Yes sir." And with that, the Riddler resumed his work. All over the city, he had set up rather tasking challenges for his chosen competitors to take part in, each capable of effecting the balance of the game, including weight-specific serums and valuable clues. As an added twist however, the victor of the competition would be determined by whoever could reach and consume the one and only known antidote first, a finish that the Riddler seemed excited about.

This was truly an example of his genius, a true masterpiece.

Although the three chosen participants of the bizarre competition would not be so willing to agree.
