"So much a good nights sleep...", you mutter as the insane lizard charges in, claws arcing in at your torso. No stranger to combat, you deftly sidestep the first swipe and spin your form as you go, breaking into a full sprint in the direction opposite of the raging charmeleon. The creature over balanced its strike and was slow in righting himself before picking up the chase. Cutting through the trees at a near reckless pace, you cast your gaze back behind you. To your ultimate dismay, the larger and usually less agile pokemon is keeping right up with your sprint.
He's keeping up with me? How can he move so fast?!
Your mind races as this revealation sinks in, searching for a new solution. You vault over a large fallen log, hoping to break the lizard's line of sight. You don't even have time to alter your course before the monster slashes the log in twain without ever slowing his run.
Persistant basterd...
You start to feel the effects of your exertion building within you. Your breath become labors and your lean muscles are beginning to seize up. You know you can't keep this pace up. Another roar from behind you tells you that the beast is gaing on you. Desperate and tiring, you have little more than mere seconds to put him at a disadvantage. You look out before you to scan the forest before you. The trees are tall and would make for an easy escape if you could break your persuers line of sight. You also spot a break in the tree line with moonlight showing through, could be a field of some sort. You can almost feel the heat of the charmeleon on your back. Squinting into the distance, you barely make out a stream.
Water!
It could prove to be the safest route as the running stream could dissuade the firetype from continuing his chase. Your forehead begins to bead with sweat. as another roar echos in your ears.
