Whirling on one foot, you bolt from the kitchen. If there's anyone who can make Susan cough up your best friend, it's Mom. You throw open the door to her bedroom, panicking.
"Mom! Mom! Geez, you're not gonna believe this..."
She looks up from the book she was reading, setting it asideand standing to catch you as you run up to her.
"Honey? Slow down! What is it, what's wrong?"
Her eyes scan your face, troubled. You grab her hand, urgently pulling towards the door.
"S-Susan...Susan ATE Kate! She ate her whole! I don't know how, but...but you have to help her!"
She walks slowly back with you, giving an odd, knowing look. She's almost smiling.
"Really? Well, I have to say I'm surprised."
You stop, just outside the kitchen. Staring at your mother with your mouth open. She shrugs, and pats your cheek.
"I really thought you would be the first to discover our family's talent. And I'd hoped Kate would be a special meal for you...maybe your first. But they do say your kids will always surprise you."
Numb, you let her guide you back into the kitchen. Susan is still rubbing her swollen belly, unable to move. Kate's outline is no longer so clear.
"Well, well. I'm sorry you ruined your appetite Susan, but in this case I think I'll let it pass."
You look back in horror, away from Susan's beaming face.
"MOM! You have to get Kate out of there! She'll die! Tell her to cough my friend up NOW!"
She smiles gently, wrapping you in her arms.
"Ssshhh...it's too late for that. If Kate could get out, she would have. Now I want you to watch...because soon you'll be able to do this too."
Shivering, you can do nothing but that. Watch, over the next hour, as your little sister digests your best friend. She burps once in a while, the bulge inside her gradually becoming smaller... | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
