Jane hurried into the hall, her nose fast approaching the tipping point. But it seemed that not every class had a teacher that insisted that they remain until the very last minute of class. To Jane, desperate to avoid witnesses, it seemed as though the corridor was full of people. She couldn’t risk an uncontrolled sneezing fit in front of them, but… but…

“Ahh… Ahheeehhuhhh…AH!…AHHH...”

Jane’s breathing was tearing free of her control. She couldn’t open her eyes. Her mouth hung open, her whole face slackening into the helpless pre-sneeze as the itch gathered momentum.

“nuuh…heh..heh…heh…heeh…HIH...”

In desperation, Jane clamped her hand to her face, squeezing her nose shut and preventing herself from taking in air. Feeling her body straining against her, she willed the sneeze back with all her might, imagining herself pushing it out of her nose and sealing it out with a huge boulder. Beneath her hand her nostrils squirmed, twisted and twitched, then, suddenly, were still. Slowly,cautiously, Jane withdrew her hand, wincing at the damp lines of snot that had attached themselves to her fingers.

“huuuhh…” somehow, she had managed to drive it back, though her aching nose promised imminent revenge for this slight. Blinking tears from her eyes, she cast about for an escape.
