Rarity groggily got to her hoofs after hearing her alarm, she failed to notice that her position was slightly off upon waking. She had never quite filled out hey mattress in such a way before but in her sleepy daze she totally missed the oddity. She didn’t miss the conundrum that was her cats’ absence however. As she got on all four of her hoofs throwing her blanket off of herself, Opal let out a tired yawn of a meow as she too began to stir. Rarity spotted her cat sleeping in a pet bed she never uses showing signs of inadequate rest. “Oh Opal, you poor thing. Why did you decide to use that bed of yours?” She asked her cat aloud as she threw on her bathrobe noticing it was a bit tight. “Oh my I really need to stop indulging in Pinkie’s cupcakes. After freshening up she headed downstairs to great her little sister, “Good morning Sweetie Bell.” Still shaking off the morning haze she was distracted a bit by the way everything seemed a bit off, lower, and in the case of her sibling possibly even smaller. “Morning Rarity.” Sweetie Bell retorted gleefully but also slightly thrown off by her elder sister’s appearance.
“Rarity do you feel alright?” asked Sweetie Bell genuinely. The pearly white mare gives her younger sister a perplexed look. “But of course darling, whatever would cause you to think otherwise?” Rarity replied sweetly appreciative of her sister’s concern.
“It’s just that you look… well, bigger!” SB added incredulously. “BIGGER! Whatever do you mean Sweetie Bell?” R said sounding startled by her sister’s proclamation, blushing feeling more than a little embarrassed. “I’m sorry Rarity, but it’s kinda hard for me NOT to notice.” SB trying to soften the blow, feeling bad. “Sweetie Bell there are more polite and more importantly more SUBTLE ways to tell some pony they may have put on weight. I know we’ve had this discussion before!” R responded clearly sounding more frustrated now. “I know that, but that’s not what I mean. Can’t you tell? Just look at your robe!” SB sticking to her ground and making her point with determination.
Rarity stopped for a moment and gave herself a once over, she immediately thought back to earlier when she realized her evening gown did feel off this morning. Maybe Sweetie Bell was on to something. “No, no Sweetie Bell it’s probably just a new shampoo I just started using. It supposed to really exfoliate your coat and mane. I guess it really does the trick, ha.” R replied throwing out this excuse trying to rationalize the subtle change knowing full well she hadn’t changed brands in years. “Yeah, I suppose so Sis that makes sense. Could you imagine though if this was only the start and you just kept on growing and getting bigger and bigger each day? That would pretty freaky but you and the others have been threw some zany things so I wouldn’t rule it out.” SB mused wide eyed as her thoughts ran wild.
“Oh Sweetie Bell you and your imagination and how I love it so. Ha-ha Me be-com-ing some kind of Gi-ant mon-ster ha ha, your too funny Sweetie Bell. That would not only be bad for business but it would be bad for my house!” R said joyfully briefly pausing the worry that was slowly creeping in. “Besides my dear that’s not how maturity works. I’ve already reached my final height, we ponies stop growing in their younger years. Unfortunately I’m well into adulthood.” R stated not sounding completely convinced as well as a bit sad with that last part. It almost seemed as though she just needed to say it out loud to placate her worries. As she examined her surroundings more carefully in detail. Still clearly feeling like something WAS off.
