The Warlock made quick work of your town, using your body to infiltrate and disable the defenses. Sadly your body was killed by your former captain and you were now a soul with no body to go back to. Soon everyone you knew and loved ended up in the Warlock's gem with you. That's how you found out about your body's fate.
You stuck close to your wife's soul for as long as you could, though her body was later destroyed like that other woman's. Soon you lost her completely when the warlock used her soul to cast a spell to weaken the magic defenses of the Elves. The warlock pushed hard into those lands, but had to give up the campaign as the elves were too strong for even him. Still he managed to get some strong warriors out of that campaign.
The Elf souls were different in the gem, they radiated with more magic and so they became the Warlock's primary fuel source for his dark magics. One of which was to seal them in their lands until he could return. The warlock then turned his attention back at the human kingdoms and even managed to capture a princess. He used her body to infiltrate one of the kingdoms and added the whole thing to his ranks.
Eventually all the other kingdoms rallied together, ready to face his large army. Before the battle though, the warlock cast powerful storm, consuming countless souls in the process. Though he had made so many enemies now and the Elves even joined the humans, breaking through the spell that claimed your wife.
The Warlock was losing the battle and was now under attack directly. He had already taken an arrow to the chest. Which he shrugged off with the cost of five souls. He was getting desperate now. You were one of the very few souls that remained. Finally it was your time. The warlock grabbed you, ready to use you in a spell but it would never come as an Elven arrow cut through the chains of the gem, releasing you from the Warlock's grasp. The gem shattered and you were finally free.
You flew up into the air and surveyed the battle ground. Many of the Warlock's forces laid dead, you felt yourself being pulled towards one of the surviving bodies. When you took the first breaths you'd taken in ten years you found yourself in the body of...
