James walked as quickly as his new aged body permitted him to do so. It was not easy moving about as an old man but he knew that it would be over soon when he transferred into the mayor's body. Thinking about all the things he could do as the mayor, James almost blew his cover by suddenly bursting into laughter before calming himself down in a matter of seconds. The other workers just put it to old Howard's eccentricity, the head gardener could be a bit odd sometimes but he was a great boss and friendly person.
As Howard, James walked up to the front door and rang the door bell. When the mayor opened it, James grinned widely to himself.
"Evening Mr.Mayor!" He said, adopting his host's mannerisms.
The mayor privately wondered why his head gardener was ringing his doorbell but after nearly 40 years of loyal service, he supposed he owed it as a favour to him. "Good evening Mr.Gibson, how may I help you today?"
"Well Mr. Mayor, I had a question about the new hire."
"What new hire? I haven't hired anyone in the last six months!"
"You haven't? Then why did the lad say that you had hired him and I was supposed to show him around?"
"I never did such a thing! What's the name of this young man?"
Giggling slightly to himself, James said, "He said his name was James sir. If you want to meet him, he's working on the hedges over there." He held out a finger to the distant side of the courtyard.
As the mayor stepped out of the house to get a closer look at this supposed adolescent worker, James quickly put his hand on the mayor's back and made the switch. In an instant, he felt himself now wearing a silky black suit with a crisp dress shirt and tie. Turning around, he smiled at his old host and who was now his head gardener. "Good evening Mr. Gibson, how may I help you today?" repeating what the mayor had said to him while he was possessing Howard.
Howard looked extremely confused and quickly excused himself, muttering something about getting too old for the job. Chuckling to himself, James closed the door behind him as he entered the mayor's house. Tonight was certainly going to be very, very fun.
