The Imperial Hegemony of Man is a massive, military dictatorship that controls it's population through fear and terror. It is constantly expanding outwards into the endlessness of space, already having subjugated, integrated or eradicated countless empires and alien races. They invest an unimaginable amount of resources into their military, in order to build bigger and better war machines to fuel their endless conquest, leaving many of their own worlds to starve and endure horrible conditions. No empire to date has managed to thwart their advance. But there is still a beacon of hope, though it has been glowing dimmer and dimmer...
A rebellion was formed shortly after the Hegemony's rise. Through Guerilla Warfare the Rebellion has managed to sabotage key supply routes and even temporarily win back the independence of several planets. But recently the Hegemony cracked down hard on the Rebellion, mercilessly hunting down and publicly executing Rebellion members, as well as carrying out strict punishments for anyone with anti-hegemony sentiments. Weaker than ever, you remain the only hope the rebellion has in stopping the Hegemony.
Right now, you're carrying two cargo crates to a nearby rebellion outpost. The Cargo in question were 40 Vorgant Laser Carbines. Many years ago, the Vorgant empire valiantly fought against the Hegemony, but was eventually crushed. Even though their empire is no more, many Vorgants still hold the spark of liberty within them, and are willing to supply the rebellion with weapons. Just like everything the Vorgants built, these Laser Carbines were rugged, reliable and cheap, perfect for a low budged rebellion.
