You open the door a tiny bit, not enough to let the stranger in, but enough to find out what they want.
"Hello? Who is it?" you call through the door.
"Mailman, ma'am," you hear the mystery man reply. "Got some mail for ya."
"Oh," you mumble. Usually the mailman just puts everything in the mailbox, so you wonder why he had to knock on your door today. Regardless, you open the door wider so you can take the mail from him.
"Here we go," the mailman says, reaching into his carrier bag. "A little junk mail, some bills, that's no good..." He hands you a stack of junk mail, then continues to dig inside his bag for more.
"Ah!" his face lights up as he discovers what he was searching for. "I have a package for you, too." He pulls out an unmarked cardboard box with brown tape covering almost every portion of it. The package is so wrapped in tape that it looks like someone had way too much fun playing with the tape dispenser when they packed it.
"Hmm... I wasn't expecting anything..." you say as you accept the package from him, placing it just inside the doorway. "Thanks!"
"No problem, ma'am," the mailman replies. "Just you let me know if there's anything else you need!"
