This choice: Luke takes advantage of Lee's overconfidence, pulling ahead! • Go Back...Chapter #7Luke takes advantage of Lee's overconfidenc... by: Unknown At first, you watch the game with extreme trepidation as the 18 foot tall youths thunder around the field, literally shaking the ground beneath you. However, instead of the continued blowout you'd been expecting thanks to Lee, the game actually becomes interesting. Lee seems to have gotten cocky and at first spends more time trying to impress the other skins than scoring. Luke on the other hand has no such problem and is instead glued to the little soccer ball at his feet.
Every time Lee seems to think he has it in the bag, Luke is suddenly on top of him ready to steal or foil any attempts at scoring a goal. Time and time again Lee gets within mere feet of the goal only to find one of Luke's massive cleats blocking his shot or swiping the ball away from him. This back and forth seems to go on forever and you quickly discover you're leaning forward in the excitement of the moment. You even consider walking out onto the field to watch the game more closely. However, that idea vanishes when a tree trunk sized thigh suddenly rushes past your head, causing you to stagger and fall. As you stand up, you conclude that each boy must weight over two thousand pounds by now, getting kicked or run over by one would be less than pleasant.
Finally after several minutes of intense back and forth action, Luke finally claims the upper hand and manages to steal the ball just as one of his shirted teammates blocks Lee from giving chase. A roaring chant of "LUKE! LUKE! LUKE!" erupts from the shirts side as he weaves his way past the "skins" defenders and rockets towards the goal. Then with a "THUMP!" you literally feel in your chest, the soccer ball whooshes through the air and into the goal.
You cover your ears as a deafening cheer explodes from the shirts side of the field and the boys on the shirts side rush over to crowd around Luke. All the excitement puts a smile on your face and you realize that standing out in the sun for so long has made you thirsty. Yelling to the boys that they should get some water, you jog over to the water cooler and pull one of the paper cups out of the attached tube. Filling the cup to its brim, you take in a long sip of water just as the realities of your situation begin to weigh heavily on you. Your team of 5 foot tall 10 year olds has been replaced by a team of miniature titans close to 16 feet tall. Then questions begin to rush through your head, "Why hasn't anyone seen them yet? Were we just lucky? How can these kids grow, are they magic or something, maybe they're gods?" But one question weighs the heaviest on you, will they listen to you? Looking down at the little envelope of water you let out a deep sigh and are about to take another sip when you see the water...vibrate.
Gulping, you suddenly remember the deal the boys made before they restarted the match, something you'd conveniently forgotten in the excitement. Turning around from the cooler you look up just in time to see a 30 foot form blot out the sun. Letting out a gasp, you dive away from the cooler just in time for a 5 foot long soccer cleat to slam into the ground where you were standing. A hand the size of a beach umbrella then reaches down in order to delicately pluck the cooler off the table. Wiping the nervous beads of sweat off your brow, you look up to see Luke spin the lid off the cooler and dump the contents into his mouth like a shot glass. With the care that one might expect from a ten year old, Luke simply lets out a sigh of satisfaction before letting it fall from his fingers (almost dropping it on your head!).
Having seen this, you immediately ask in your head, "Why did Luke do that just now?" | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
