Chapter #8To be continued 1 by: Me As Vera looked down at the carnage she was creating, she smiled. All thoughts of not wanting to dirty or scuff her new boots had gone in the drunken haze of her mind, well she could always order some more, as her booted feet buried themselves in dust and rubble and flames. Taking another swig she suddenly noticed above the sounds of destruction another loud noise, a noise of droning. She looked round startled. It was a fleet of helicopters. Vera flicked her hair back with leather gloved hands and looked at the tiny flies. Suddenly there was the sound of a voice, incredibly amplified so she could hear. It was her father, the one person she would listen to seriously. He doted on her and some would say indulge her (but she was large) but also could be firm. This was one of those times. “Vera! What on earth are you doing! Do you know what you are doing! Are you crazy? And you’re drunk! “. Vera stood there open mouthed at this barrage, she hadn’t been spoken to like this for several years. As she stood there shocked she dropped her bottle of vodka she was swigging from and shattered on impact, spraying the city below with lethal shards, and where there were fires they were added to by the spilt vodka, causing a conflagration in places, much to the further dismay of the inhabitants of the helicopters, representing the great and the good of the world. Alas their dismay grew even greater at Vera’s next action. “$%^& you! How DARE you talk to me like that! I’m a goddess and don’t you ever forget it! If I could be even taller I would so I can ravage this £$%^ing place even quicker!”. This was bad, she was very, very angry. And the landscape suffered even more. She stomped and smashed the city to oblivion in very short order, along with its inhabitants. 3 million perished as she crushed city block after city block, crushed aircraft, tore up bridges and railway lines, and for good measure tore up chunks of city and threw them at the helicopters. In a blind rage she was not considering that her father, her champion, was in one of them as she smashed many out of the sky. It is just as well that he escaped very quickly. Not content with destroying the city she proceeded to obliterate every feature in the region, dozens of towns and villages, railway lines, trees, factories, power lines, she smashed the local reservoirs and stomped on a dam which flooded several square miles. The population was in total panic, total meltdown, they had lived alongside Vera for her entire life with her faults and foibles (and good points even), but there had been nothing like this. However, just when she got to the regional capital, a city of 20 million people and started frenziedly destroying it, something happened…….. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
