"Project Deus", an experimental procedure authorized by the United States government to breed regular human babies into potential gods to be under the control of the U.S. military. The logic behind "Project Deus" was that with gods on their side, any military action taken against the U.S. would instantly be deflected and countered, or so was the goal of the project. 100 mothers volunteered themselves to be part of the project, some of them out of wanting to help their country, others from the amount of money they were paid for their participation: $500,000 to be paid upon the birth of the child. Each of the mothers' babies were subjected to various gene-altering drugs and injections to mold and morph the child into the ultimate being. However, upon the birth of the children, each of them were stillborn, filling the hearts of their mothers with absolute grief. Yet, due to some strange miracle, only one of the babies in the sample group survived, a perfectly healthy baby girl named Molly Ethans.
Throughout the next several years, Molly was monitored extensively by government scientists; her family was also additionally compensated with each visit the scientists made, so the Ethans family never had to worry about money issues. Molly herself was raised with the utmost kindness by her parents, finding herself to be nice to everyone and everything, incapable of even harming a fly. After about 7 years of monitoring the girl, the scientists found no signs of abnormal DNA or other "godlike" characteristics present within Molly. Believing the project to be an utter failure, the government signed a contact with the Ethans family to provide them with a large sum of money every year for the rest of their lives for their numerous tests of their child. The scientists were then stripped of their ranks within the government and all of the project's records and documents were destroyed and burned, not leaving a single trace of the government's incredible waste of the taxpayers' money.
For the rest of her life, Molly had a normal childhood, going to school and having fun with her many friends, albeit a bit shy in social situations, yet always managing to have fun and be extra nice. When she turned 12, Molly decided to become a "goth", signified by dying her naturally dark-orange hair bright-orange. However, just before her 13th birthday, Molly's life was about to change forever...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
