Ron was summoned to Professor McGonagall's office. Nervously knocking on the door, the stern Scottish brogue "Enter!" rang clearly through the heavy oak door.
Pushing the door wide, Ron was startled to find Hermione already inside, and as the door swung wider, he caught a glimpse of Ginny, too. Neither were able to meet his eye, and from their downcast expression, Ron knew he was in trouble.

She cleared her throat in a vaguely Scottish cough. "I have here your results." She tapped one folder on her desk. "And these are Ginnys'." She added tapping the folder beside it.
He couldn't help but notice a smile flicker briefly across Ginny's face before quickly being masked.
"Now, I understand you needed a little help to achieve your grades." She continued on. Hermione blushing, steadfastly staring at her shoes. Professor McGonagall's tone suggesting disappointment, as well as disapproval.
Opening the folder, she passed her wand over the front page. Lines of luminous black rose in shimmering darkness from the front. A glow coming from each of the pages suggesting each one was similarly littered. Ron's gaze flicked briefly, as a confession to Hermione, her additions outlined, and obvious. Sighing and shaking her head, She closed the paper folder, and the treacherous glow was extinguished.

"So, I have to with some regret give you this opportunity." She sighed. "You'll resit your previous year, and you will try harder, for better marks. To keep the classes balanced, we're advancing Ginny a year."
"But... But, you can't..." Ron started, disbelief and horror clear in his throat. He was about to be held back a year, and to add salt to the wound Ginny was advancing a year!
Ron spluttered and protested, incoherently, until the stern answering silence made him fall quiet and docile.
Crossing her arms, Minerva locked eyes with Ron, "Can and will." she assured him. Ron's shoulders collapse as he accepts his defeat.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
