He hadn't survived this long as Batman by relying on his strength alone. With two weeks rehabilitating, he'd had plenty of time to prepare a back-up plan. Batman could go a lot with two weeks.
He turned away from the Batsuit, limping slowly across to the laboratory. He had been studying the flesh sample he'd punched off've Clayface months ago, trying to discern the mechanism by which it bonded to civilians and turned them into "Claythings" with a portion of Clayface's shapeshifting power. He had learnt how to control it and most importantly, reverse it.
A test-tube of brown sludge bubbled over a Bunsen burner, moving sluggishly as though trying to escape its confines. He picked it up and swallowed the contents in one. It squirmed down his throat.
His flesh began to soften like hot wax. He hoped he had the dosage right, otherwise we would soon be a spreading Batpuddle of liquid flesh oozing through the Batcave walkway. His limbs drooped and his face sagged, but if he concentrated he was able to pull himself together. It took all of his not inconsiderable willpower to maintain a human form, but he knew it was now entirely within his power to choose the specifics of that form.
He crossed to the Batcomputer, summoning to the screen the photographs and physical specifications of his rogue gallery, studiously collected over the years. His enemies would be meeting tonight at the Iceberg Lounge to discuss the future of their Gotham. Impersonating one of them would allow him to get inside and learn of their plans without becoming involved in a fight he was in no position to win.
His soft fingertips smooshed against the keyboard keys as he browsed. He needed somebody who would go mostly unnoticed among the mob bosses... Somebody like....
