Natalie waited patiently for the right moment to approach Cathy. She knew Cathy often took her lunch break alone in the break room, away from the rest of the staff. Today was no different. As Natalie entered the break room, she found Cathy sitting at the small table, scrolling through her phone while nibbling on a sandwich.
"Hey, Cathy," Natalie said, her voice calm but with a hint of mischief.
Cathy looked up, her usual judgmental expression plastered across her face. "Oh, hey, Natalie. What’s up?"
Natalie smiled softly and pulled the coin from her pocket. "I found something interesting earlier. Thought you might want to see it."
Cathy raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "A coin? Really? That’s what you’re so excited about?"
Natalie ignored the sarcasm and held the coin up between her fingers. "Just watch it for a second, okay?"
Cathy rolled her eyes but glanced at the coin. As soon as her eyes locked onto it, Natalie discreetly pressed the secret latch. The coin began to spin, or at least it appeared to. Cathy’s eyes widened, and her expression went blank as she fell into a deep hypnotic trance.
Natalie leaned in closer, her voice soft but commanding. "Cathy, from now on, you’re going to believe that you’re my little child. You’ll always listen to me, your mommy, and you’ll feel like a toddler when you’re around me. You’ll still be yourself with everyone else, but with me, you’ll be my sweet, obedient little girl. Do you understand?"
Cathy nodded slowly, her voice dreamy and distant. "Yes, Natalie…"
Natalie smiled, satisfied. "Good girl. And from now on, you’ll always call me Mommy, okay?"
"Yes, Mommy…" Cathy repeated, her voice soft and childlike.
Natalie snapped her fingers, and Cathy blinked, coming out of the trance. She shook her head slightly, as if trying to clear a fog, but otherwise seemed normal.
"Anyway," Cathy said, her usual tone returning, "I was just about to head back to my desk. See you later, Mommy."
Natalie’s smile widened as Cathy walked away, completely unaware of the change that had just taken place. A few minutes later, Natalie found Cathy in the hallway, sipping on a cup of coffee. Natalie decided to test the waters.
"Cathy," Natalie called out, her voice gentle but firm.
Cathy turned, her expression softening instantly. "Yes, Mommy?"
The other coworker looked confused but didn’t say anything. Natalie walked over and placed a hand on Cathy’s shoulder. "I heard what you said to Carol earlier. That wasn’t very nice, was it?"
Cathy’s face flushed, and she looked down at her feet, suddenly feeling like a scolded toddler. "I’m sorry, Mommy… I didn’t mean to be mean…"
Natalie patted her head gently. "It’s okay, sweetie. Just remember to be kind to others, okay? Mommy doesn’t like it when you’re not nice."
Cathy nodded eagerly, her eyes wide with sincerity. "I’ll be good, Mommy. I promise."
Natalie smiled and gave her a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder. "That’s my girl. Now, go on and finish your work. Mommy’s proud of you."
Cathy beamed, feeling a strange sense of warmth and comfort from Natalie’s words. She hurried off to her desk, her usual demeanor returning as she interacted with her other coworkers. But every time she glanced at Natalie, she felt that same childlike adoration and obedience bubbling up inside her.
Natalie watched her go, a satisfied smirk playing on her lips. This was going to be fun.
