Sam Leaves Zack alone in the room
by: Unknown
"Alex has a point, at least," Sam mused. "It's just a dusty old house, and we can cover a lot more ground if we split up. Plus if you're so afraid Zack, you can just stay put!" Zack's stomach was too busy growling to let him pay attention otherwise. "But I'm hungry..." he sighed. "Maybe you should go check out the pantry then, I bet that's where they hide the Scooby Snacks!" Sam chuckled to himself. "Make me a sandwich while you're back there too," he bellowed as he walked off into the yet unknown depths of the house.
Zack was having none of this. Not only was he still upset at himself for performing terribly at the swim meet, but now he was stuck in a creepy house with two of his friends that probably hated him at this point. Dejected, he wandered towards what looked like the kitchen.
The counter top glistened as the lights flickered on, beaming down against the brown speckled marble. Zack shuffled around a few of the shelves only to find large sums of dust and no signs of life. Silently he kept hoping to find something, anything to eat, but started to wonder what kind of food would even keep in an old abandoned looking mansion.
As he poked his head in through the pantry doors, though, he noticed it was stocked full of goodies as far as the eye could see! Was this a cruel prank or a generous gift? Inspecting the box top of some cookies, he noticed that the expiration date was many months from today. Perhaps somebody still lived here? ... Maybe they wouldn't mind losing just a few cookies, too?
Zack rummaged around a few more cupboards before finding a set of gorgeous dinner plates, setting himself up a spread of treats: a handful of cookies, a fresh looking banana, and a warm cheese sandwich he managed to cobble together. Just as he started to stuff his face with food, a figure appeared out from a side of the room. Her focus was square on the shelves and sprawling counter in front of her as if she was... cleaning them? She seemed to glide across the kitchen and as if satisfied with her work, turned around before noticing Zack holding a bitten into sandwich. It was now he could make out her features, that of a very old looking woman in an even older looking maid's uniform.
Her face's wrinkles scrunched up as she looked closer at Zack. "A bit early for your break time, isn't it dear?"
