You had thought she would just barge in anyway like she usually does but she didn’t to your surprise. She stood on the other side of your door with her hand still on the door knob.
“I need you to listen to me all the way so you aren’t surprised.” You started in a contemplative voice that seemed to be holding your Mom at bay. “Last night I lie down and fell asleep and when I woke up I was different. My body changed; something that you would only believe in a sci-fi flick.”
“Oh it is natural for someone of your age honey to have… changes at your age.” Your mom said. She was obviously missing the point. You were slightly embarrassed but then again you never got “the talk” since your dad died a few years ago.
“No Mom that’s not what I meant. I guess the only way to explain it is to show you. But you have to promise that no matter what you see you will remain calm. This is not exactly easy for me to deal with.”
“Of course honey” She said as she opened the door into the dark room then closed it behind her. She obviously couldn’t see you since the light wasn’t on but you defiantly could see her. Your mom was one of those women that people teased you about in school (now that they have reached puberty). She was very attractive as was your sisters, but it was lost on you; probably because they were family and you grew up with them. You hadn’t even noticed until a few of your “friends” pointed it out. “Where are you Jake?” she said as she looked for your outline both in your bed and in your favorite chair. Then she saw the light of your phone on your bed but was blind to the 10 foot python next to it. She took a few steps toward a lamp stand when she saw you move slightly but was still too dark for her to make out anything more than movement.
“I’m right here on the bed. Go ahead and turn on the light, just don’t scream… Please.” You said as you read your mother’s face. She wasn’t sure why you would say that but she paused with her eyes closed for a second then opened them as she turned on the lamp next to your bed.
