You thought about it for a while and then realized that you had a cell phone. Sure it would be harder to use but then again you have all night to figure out how. You slithered off your bed and over to your desk where your phone was charging. You lightly constricted the charge cord off your phone and grabbed the phone with your mouth. It made you feel like a dog but then again you weren’t sure of your own strength yet as you looked at the destroyed charger. As you got back onto your bed you were careful not to swallow your phone like your body was trying to do. Unlike being human your throat didn’t have a right angle or gag reflex to stop you from swallowing things like gum or when you played truth or dare with your Sisters. With that done you spit the phone out onto the bed, thankful that that you didn’t have as much spit in your mouth which would have been a gross addition to your phone’s design.
After trying a few approaches to push the power button you found that your tail was the only part of your body suited for the task. Carefully you pushed the power button and took a sigh of accomplishment as it turned on. It had taken you an hour to retrieve your phone and turn it on. Next you slowly and carefully dialed your Mother’s phone and pushed talk. The phone dialed and started to ring. With your improved hearing you could your Mother’s ring tone as well as her movement before picking it up.
“Hello Jake, were you tired to walk down the hallway and knock on the door?” Mom said in a both joking and irritated manner.
“Um, not exactly; something happened.” You said in an unintentionally sad tone.
“Jake what’s wrong? Where are you?” Mom said as she got concerned all of a sudden, probably thinking you snuck out and got in some trouble or something.
“Oh no I am in my room and I…”
“Oh I’ll be right there honey.” Mom interrupted as you heard her hang up the phone, opened her door, and come down the hallway to your room.
“Wait Mom!” you said, loud enough for her to hear on the other side of the door but not enough to wake your sisters. Your mother stopped as her hand hit the door knob. “I need to say something before you come in.”
