It was a nice Saturday afternoon when Sarina approaches you in the castle halls.
"What's up, Sarina?" you say.
"Not much, but guess what today is." she says.
You think for a moment. Sarina's birthday was four months ago, you vaguely remember the king and queen celebrating their anniversary a few weeks ago, and you would've remembered if it was Richard or Felicia's birthday. "I give up." you say in defeat.
"Dude, it's the tenth anniversary of when we first met. Duh!" she says laughing.
"Oh right." you say. It seems just like yesterday.
You and Sarina then remember the day you first met.
**************TEN YEARS AGO*****************
You and your parents were in the car, driving to past some unfamiliar landmarks.
"Mom, Dad, where are we going?" your seven-year-old self asks.
"We're going to visit some old friends of ours." you mom says.
"What? Every time we go to to one of your friends' houses, it's so booooooooring!" you say with a pout.
"Well, these friends of ours have a kid, and she's your age." your dad says.
"She!? EWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Girls are gross!" you say.
"If you behave yourself, we'll take you out to eat afterward." your mom says.
You instantly stop complaining.
When you get to the castle, you were astonished. Maybe coming here wasn't so bad. You see King Thomas and Queen Madeline at the door. Your parents and the king and queen greet each other happily.
"It's been way to long, Tommy!" your dad says.
"I was thinking the same thing!" the king says.
"Who's this little sweetie?" Madeline says, looking at you. You blush a little. Then the queen recognizes you. "Oh my! The last time I saw you, you were so small!"
"They grow up too fast don't they?" your mom says.
"We know." Tomas says. "Our little Sarina is growing just as fast. Do come in."
When you and your family enter the castle, the queen leads you to a special room in the castle. "There's someone waiting for you in there." she says. You open the door and see little Sarina playing with her hair. "Sarina, this is [your name]," Madeline says. "Play nice, you two."
Sarina walks up to you and smiles. "Hi!" she says happily. You were very shy as a kid, you never really opened up to anyone. "You don't talk much, do you." she says, giggling. "Wanna play a game?" she offers. You shyly nod your head.
Ever since then you and Sarina have been the best of friends, so you decide to do something with her to celebrate ten years.
