In your office you have a whiteboard hung on the wall marked with an ongoing tally. Each line of the tally represents a successful male-to-female surgery that you have performed. You like to think of each line there as a step towards making the world a more joyful, feminine, beautiful and most importantly pussy-filled world than before. So far your score is 337. It helps get you up in the morning, helps bring you into work on Monday morning knowing your efforts are improving the world for everybody, especially you.
You don't like the thought of your dad being one of those lines.
He isn't wrong though. You do owe him a lot for paying you through medical school.
You think on the problem all that day and all the next day. Elbow-deep in a patient, your mind wanders to your dad's predicament, and you almost cut right through an important vein. Refocusing yourself, you decide to deal with the dilemma sooner rather than later.
That evening you visit your mother. "Are you sure you can't sort this out?" you plead. "You've had arguments before but you've always managed to patch things up."
"No," she says coldly. "I won't spend another minute in this house with that awful man, I've already wasted half of my life on him."
"But the divorce will ruin him."
"Good," she snaps.
"I don't think you realise how desperate he is." And you explain how he had come to your clinic begging for your help, afraid of losing everything, what he'd asked you to do. Her cold blue eyes light up as you talk, the thought of her husband feminised casting a dreamy look over her face.
"And you'd be willing to go ahead with this?" she asks.
You shrug. "If that's what he really wants, there's not a lot I can do. There are plenty of other surgeons who could do it, they just won't do quite as good a job as me. I thought if I told you what he's planning you might call of the divorce."
"Do it," she states firmly. "Do it and do a good job of it. It'll be the perfect punishment for what he did with Ms Foster, and if he thinks it'll help him he's got another thing coming."
