This choice: At work you find your job is a bit different • Go Back...Chapter #6At work you find your job is a bit different by: Spooky   You grab a seat on the bus, putting your purse on your lap, very aware of your legs being encased in a skirt, you keep your legs tight together.
Arriving at work you nervously open the doors and walk across the floor to the Elevators to your floor.
You press the button for the third floor, noting you painted nails.
Arriving at your floor you head towards your office, nearly nobody pays you any notice other than one of the Secretaries saying "Good Morning Andrea"
You head towards your office, arriving in front of it, but stopping confused, it has somebody else's name on the door, its one of the other manager's on the floor, Joe Albright, when it normally had your male name on it. You hear a voice from behind you.
"Do you need something Andrea?"
"Huh? oh Hey... Joe... no nothing sorry"
"Alright then" he slides past you and enters what i apparently his office
"Oh Andrea, Can you make 50 copies of this Booklet for me, Thanks." He hands you a small 10 page booklet, and closes the door.
Stunned you turn and scan the room, noticing one of the cublicles looks familiar, it has all your stuff on it, and you even recognize your computer's chosen screensaver.
You set down your stuff and find that its true, this is your desk now.
You've never felt Sexism more directly than right now, You've worked here for two years, after one year you were promoted, but apparently as a chick, you weren't, everything else was the same, why not that, it was ridiculous, now instead of being able to sit privately in your office in a skirt suit, you'd have to parade yourself around the office making copies, and getting coffee, it was totally unfair.
You sigh, it was too late now, you could probably get a break long enough during lunch to go and change back but there was no time for that now, you'd have to get to work making copies.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
