Chapter #3

Their decision

I apologise for any confusing Enlish/American spelling variations.

I stare at the cobble floor beneath my feet and wait. The silence seems endless. I knew the three professors by name before I arrived - who didn't? Their reputation across the worlds was unprecedented. I'd only managed a quick glance before I'd felt the compulsion to kneel before them. Still, it had been enough for me to take a pretty good guess at who was who.

Sylvaria the Principle saw in the centre. Her mane of silver hair and her folded metallic wings gave her identity away. To her left was the Head of Dark Magics 'Elgoran', his black eyes had been vacuous and I'd been glad to no to have to gaze on him any longer than necessary. That left Telmaralon the Head of White Magics. It was she over all the others that compelled me to kneel. Did she know it yet? Probably not but the instant I saw her I knew she was my eternal rider. She was the one I was destined to stay beside until the sun finally set on the last of my days.

In spite of my knowledge, nothing changed the fact that they could still throw me out on my dragon hide if they refused my application to join the.

Her voice broke the silence. Musical notes bounced across the airways as she intructed me to show myself.

I did just as she asked. As I straightened my legs and stretched my back my eyes met hers and I could see that she did know. How this was possible I had no idea, but I was certain of the fact.

As is tradition, I spread my purple and gold streaked wings as wide as was possible. She stood and walked towards me. Sylvaria and Elgoran looked on in confusion as she reached into my wings and snapped a single purple feather from the masses. She walked round and stood fact to face with me, her tiny human form had the presence of an ant stood by an oak tree.

"It is done" she said and I bowed my head in acknowledgment of the arrangement that was now in place.

Telmaraln turned to her colleagues "He joins us" she stated and returned to her seat.
