The ring held the prince's attention. He was sure it wasn't there last night when he'd bedded that woman. It was oddly dull, and plain looking. Certainly it wasn't a cut gem, and appeared unworthy of decorating a ring.
Turning it this way and that in the dawn light that was sneaking over the horizon. It showed no beauty beyond being amber and faintly translucent. Nothing appeared in it's faint depths.
Behind him, he heard the harem girl getting up from the bed. Quickly and quietly, she dressed. Her goal to leave as discreetly as possible, and without any fuss to attract the prince's attention. The thin satin gown clinging to her sweat streaked body, walking as she tugged out the wrinkles.
A discreet girl could be a treasure, though a gossip could be silenced by plucking her tongue out, it did tend to make them angry and resentful.
The band looked to be golden and fairly plain, a mans ring. He had to squint in the morning light to see the faintly scratched words that were engraved on the inside and hidden from casual observation.
