The Fish in the air

Nick ran to the pier excited to set off on his beach side journey, found Carlos sitting at the pier staring blankly into the blue distance... Carlos was still in his underwear and apparently had gotten his ear pierced recently as the only other article of clothing on him was an earring inlaid with a carved stone charm.
"I-I just wanted them to go faster, b-b-but they sped of like fucking cheetahs in the rain..."

Nick was glad at least one question was answered. However there still was the fact that carlos was practically naked. But Nick's mind affirmed the fact that carlos always wore that earring.
"Dude, why the fuck are you in your underwear?"
