The Taylor family is just your typical American family. Phil and Amy had two eighteen year old kids, a boy and girl twin, and they were all headed off to college in two months. They were about to leave on their last big family vacation, and they were going to the British Virgin Islands for ten days.
Phil and Amy were in their early fifties, and were feeling older by the minute. Sometimes they just wish they could go back to the day when the twins, Jess and Tim, were little and cute, and they were youg and in their thirties. Phil had graying black hair, clear blue eyes, and dark skin. He was about six foot two, and had a little belly but was still built from his days of playing football. Amy had dyed deep brown hair, nearly black, and piercing blue eyes. She was a little overweight from the years of being a mom, but still had a nice figure and a pretty face, accentuated by the smile lines at her mouth and crows feet around her eyes. She was about 5'3" and had been a very good gymnast as a teenager.
Jess and Tim were basically identical, except they were of the opposite gender. With dark brown hair and sparkling blue eyes, both had tanned skin and perfect smiles. Jess was 5'7" and had an average figure, with smallish boobs but was very in shape from playing so much volleyball. Tim had wavy hair and was almost his dad's height, at 6." He was pretty muscular and in shape from playing football, where he was quarterback. Both kids were popular and had many of the same friends. Jess had broken up with a boyfriend about two weeks ago since she didn't want to be attached in college and she didn't really love him, but Tim and his girlfriend were still deciding what was going to happen and were still together, at least for the summer.
Their Aunt Mel had given the family an heirloom, a dazzling ring made of an opaque black that changed hue with the light, with no explanation except to wear it and enjoy their vacation. Who puts it on?
