"You gotta start small, right?" Katie thinks to herself. She finds her family's cat, Stella, curled up on a windowsill, lazily basking in the afternoon sun. She believes it's wise to start with a test subject instead of going straight into shrinking herself or someone else.
She clears her throat and reads the spell out loud. A brief, tingling sensation fills the air, and then–nothing. Stella looks completely unchanged.
Disappointed but not willing to give up, Katie assumes she must have made a mistake with her pronunciation. After practicing the incantation several times, she tries the spell again. This time, it takes effect.
Stella, now the size of a mouse, gently Katie scoops up Stella with a shocked look etched on her face.
“Holy crap…” Katie whispers as she looks down at her shrunken cat, Stella seemed completely undisturbed by the events that transpired.
