Chapter #5Slowly but surely by: Squallor   “No way I pass on an opportunity like this!” Katie says in delight as she looks over the shrinking spell. As Katie reviewed the shrinking spell she was shocked to see that the spell would not shrink her clothes or any items. The shrinking spell would only shrink her body. Katie immediately removed her earrings. "I don't want any freak accidents happening." She mumbled as she set her earring atop her nightstand. As Katie contemplated what to do with the shrinking spell she began to worry about the implications of the spell. "It's gonna be so embarrassing shrinking out of my clothes!" She said nervously to herself, placing her hands on her hips as she paced around her bedroom. "But I can't waste this opportunity!" She thought to herself as she looked over the spell again again.
Katie closes her eyes and take a deep breath in, she slowly opens her eyes and looks down at the spell again.
"I'm ready." She said in a firm voice. She begins to read the spell aloud. "I, Katie, call upon the powers of the universe to grant me the power to dwindle in height! I command you to shrink my body, make me shorter, make me smaller, make me one foot shorter in height! I, Katie, command you!" Katie stops reading the spell and looks around her bedroom, waiting for something to happen. She waited for about three minutes, and nothing happened.
"I got ripped off!" She mumbled to herself as she shut the book and tossed it at a wall. "How could I be so stupid!"
Katie sat for a while, waiting to see what would happen. She decided to take a break and just relax, since she was still full of adrenaline and excitement from her accidental discovery.
As she laid down, she began to feel a tickle in her head. It was a pleasant feeling, she ignored it and went back to her usual activities. After about a half hour, she felt the tickle again. This time, she felt it spreading throughout her entire body.
"What the hell?" She asked herself as she sat up. 'What in the world is going on?'
Katie got up and went to the mirror. As she looked at her reflection, she noticed something strange about her reflection. Katie was smaller, she still looked the same, but she had become smaller. Her mouth fell open as she looked at herself, her eyes widened as she realized what had happened. Her gaze shifted from her reflection to the spell book on the floor, turning to face it. She looked down at herself again and then back at the spell book. Katie was in disbelief.
"It worked!" Katie shouted to herself, with a huge grin on her face. "It really worked!"
Excitement was building in Katie as she jumped for joy.
"This is too cool!" She exclaimed as she danced around the room. In her excitement, she forgot about the small problem she had with her clothes shrinking with her. Katie's foot had slipped on her jeans, causing her to trip and fall.
"Ouch..." She mumbled as she picked herself up. "I should take it easy."
Gingerly, Katie walked over to where the spell book was and picked it up. She turned the pages to the page she had been on and set the spell book on her bed. Katie sat down on the bed and reflected on what she had just done.
"I can't believe it worked! I feel amazing! I- I- I cast a spell to make me a foot shorter..." Katie said to herself, smiling. The moment was lost as she realized what she had done. "Oh crap, I shrunk myself by a whole fucking foot!"
Shooting up from the bed, Katie ran over to the mirror and looked over her reflection, her gaze bouncing between the reflection and herself. She had shrunk some more.
"I can't believe this, I'm gonna be a foot shorter!" Katie exclaimed as she shook her head. "Let's see, ordinarily I'm around 5'5, so 12 inches minus 66 inches makes me around... oh." She stared at the bottom of the bed, lost in disbelief. "That'll make me 4'6..."
Katie took a deep breath and then let it out slowly. 'Well, I'm dumb."
She plopped herself down on the bed and closed her eyes, she had wanted to shrink but not this much. "I should have started smaller, like an inch or two... I'll just have to live with it." She said, sitting up and looking at her mirror. Her feet dangled over the edge of the bed. As she thought about her predicament, Katie began to feel herself sliding along the bed.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
