While Karen sits on the couch relaxing, the pill she took is breaking down and spreading through her body. She doesn't feel any different as her body begins to react to the pill. Karen is already starting to loose some weight, although a very small amount right now. She is not loosing weight because of her fat melting away, it is due to a loss of height. About an hour after taking the pill, she has already loss an inch of her height. She watches TV for a little bit longer, then gets up and does various things around her house. Karen does a little more cleaning and then calls up one of her friends who she talks to on the phone all the time.
Soon, her kids come home from school which interrupts her quiet afternoon. She talks to her friend, Joan, just a little longer then greets her kids. "Hi Ashley, how was your day?" "It was boring mom. The teacher made us write a paper about a stupid topic. I nearly feel asleep," complains Ashley as she rolls her eyes. All of a sudden, Karen feels a tingling sensation in her stomach, but then it quickly goes away. Karen has now lost about three inches of her height, leaving her 5'3" tall. She hasn't noticed a change yet, but her daughter Ashley thinks that her mother looks a little different today for some reason. Karen's other kid, John, has disappeared into his room and she probably won't see him until dinner time. John spends a lot of time on his computer and playing video games. It seems like a typical afternoon for Karen with her son locked away in his bedroom and her daughter plopped down on the couch watching TV. Next,
